About this Worksheet: This poetry worksheet instructs the student to write a sonnet. A sonnet is a fourteen line poem written in iambic pantameter. It has a rhyme scheme of abab, cdcd, efef, gg. Most sonnets follow this rhyme scheme, however some sonnets differ from this rhyme scheme. A sonneet ends with two lines called a couplet. One of the most famous sonnets is called the Shakespearean sonnet. A Shakespearean sonnet often revolves around time and morality.
